Design and creation of business IT networks

Sardacom designs and builds company data networks and complex IT environments, operating with the most recent technologies and using both IP/MPLS and ATM/FR geographic networks. Sardacom has been granted First Level Ministerial Authorisation, issued by the Department for Communications of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, which qualifies it to connect any type of telecommunication installation, including those with radio and/or fibre optics systems. Sardacom’s areas of activity in this sector are:

  • IP Routing and Switching networks: local area networks (LANs) and wide area geographic networks (WANs) planning, design, implementation and management on MPLS, BGP, OSPF.
  • Copper structured (Categories 5e, 6 and higher) and fibre optic cabling, for data, voice and video flow transfer. In addition to installing, Sardacom also deals with network certification in accordance with current standards.
  • Network security with multivendor experience (Cisco  Systems,  Juniper,  HP, Clavister, Watchguard and Sonicwall).

Network security is a core element of Sardacom’s activity: all communications, both incoming and outgoing, must comply with specific access authorisations in line with strict security policies. For these purposes Sardacom employs advanced tools such as firewalls that perform stateful packet inspections (SPI), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS).

Mail servers and business messaging infrastructure

Sardacom’s electronic mail infrastructure provides you with:

  • Personalised email boxes (e.g.: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.); the basic package already provides 5GB of storage space.
  • Spam control: powerful filter to keep unwanted mail out of your inbox.
  • External account setup: ability to manage mail accounts (including outside your domain) within your Webmail itself so that multiple mailboxes can be accessed at any one time.
  • Private web space: each account can have 1GB of server space, to which documents, images, videos and music can be uploaded and saved.
  • Large attachments (up to 1GB) can be easily sent. If they exceed the standard 25MB size, attachments are not included with the message but recipients receive a link to the sender’s Web Storage, where they can view the files.
  • Contact and event synchronisation: to synchronise and update events and contacts between mobile phone, Client Outlook and Webmail.
  • Business address book: managed and edited by an administrator, group and contact details can be added and later viewed from all the mailboxes of the domain.
  • Business calendar: an administrator can manage a specific calendar that can be then viewed from all the mailboxes of the domain.

Domains and websites

Sardacom can submit the registration of a domain name with a chosen extension for companies who have not yet registered their name on the Web:

  • domains .it .com .eu .net .es .name .org .biz .info and geographical
  • foreign domains (e.g.: .fr .uk .de etc..)

Choosing a name is the first step towards the creation of cutting edge WEB 2.0 websites, with CMS (Content Management System) architecture. This is not just a static site but an actual “Content Management System” which will allow you to organise and create content on your site, without the need for any particular technical know-how.

Enterprise level virtual infrastructures also for small businesses

Sardacom can implement, manage and protect enterprise level virtual infrastructures at affordable prices for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SME) that do not require complex IT infrastructures. The high costs associated with SAN-based virtual environments are practically amortised by the use of virtual machine replication technologies between various VMware ESXi nodes.

Storage Area Network and storage virtualisation

Sardacom installs, sets up and maintains enterprise-level SANs.

A Storage Area Network (SAN) is a network that groups together multiple storage elements regarded as a single storage element. A SAN makes data rapidly available to any connected server, with greatly reduced access times.

A SAN architecture works in a way that makes all storage available to any server in the network to which the SAN belongs. As stored data does not reside directly on any of the servers of a network, the servers’ calculation power is used for applications.

Rapid and secure access to data is paramount for businesses. With a SAN architecture they can integrate all the features of traditional storage systems, without overloading servers in data read/write operations. The benefits are:

  • High performance
  • High availability
  • Scalability
  • Manageability

Virtualisation

In the creation of virtual infrastructures Sardacom relies on VMware’s consolidated technology.

In particular, the WMware vSphere™ system exploits the power of virtualisation to transform data centres into simplified cloud computing infrastructures and allow IT organisations to provide reliable and flexible new generation services which utilize internal and external resources and ensure maximum security and limited risks.

VMware vSphere™ drastically reduces operating and capital costs and increases control over IT services, while ensuring the freedom to select any type of operating system, application and hardware device, either run in-house or supplied from external resources.
